SUMMARY
The Painter is responsible for preparing the product per instructions and operating various painting equipment and methods without supervision. This position must be able to titrate spray wash and adjust as needed. The Painter also inspects material for any runs, sags or unpainted areas and retouches as required per specifications. The role will perform required maintenance on paint equipment as needed. A successful candidate is a self-motivated multi-tasker with excellent attendance who utilizes a strong work ethic to ensure all paint quality levels are met.

QUALIFICATIONS

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Regular and punctual attendance at work is an essential job function of each position and is necessary to your individual effectiveness and that of your work group. Regular and punctual attendance is required of all employees.

1. Prepares product prior to paint application.
2. Prepares paint equipment as required.
3. Paints product per job instructions.
4. Takes mil thickness readings and adjust when out of specification.
5. Performs cross hatch paint adhesion test.
6. Checks all parts of paint booth for wear or malfunction and replaces as needed.
7. Assists in cleaning of paint booths.
8. Handles paint, paint related materials, and hazardous wastes properly.
9. Changes color modules for paint booths.
10. Other duties as required and assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

1. High school diploma or equivalent required.
2. Previous industrial painting experience or equivalent knowledge required. 2+ years preferred.
3. Working knowledge of powder paint booth & powder coat process required.
4. Ability to read and understand bill of material required.
5. Must be able to titrate and adjust chemical level seven-stage spray wash. May also perform advanced wet painting.
6. Must be able to adjust machine as needed to maintain excellent quality and production.
7. Must be proficient at troubleshooting most common recurring problems without assistance.
8. Must be able to correctly complete the production report as specified in the standard operating procedures.
9. Internal training per standard operating procedures and training sheet.
10. Required OSHA safety training.

10. Must pass pulmonary function test in order to wear required respirator.
11. Must wear all required PPE.
12. Must be physically able to access all areas of the plant and grounds.

14. Some aspects of this position may require close vision, depth perception, the ability to see small detail, and the ability to adjust focus.

SALARY

• $23 - $25/hour, depending on experience
