SUMMARY
The Instrumentation & Controls Engineer will plan, control, coordinate, and close-out the Instrumentation and Control Systems Engineering and Designs projects, covering conceptual studies, FEED packages and design in accordance with the contract, client specifications and industries standards.
This position will be in the shop working closely with Controls Technicians.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Responsible for performing electrical, instrumentation and control design.
- Provides correct interpretation of the contract scope of work and management of changes to the scope of work.
- Ensures accuracy, completeness and quality of technical information and design documentation.
- LV Electrical; ability to design and connect wiring and cabling to CSA/NEC standards.
- Designs control panel and field termination panels to house PLC and field device wiring termination and device powering.
- Validation of process sensors to ensure suitability to task.
- Bench calibration and verification of sensors and actuators.
- Performs I&C equipment sizing, selection, and specifications for various types of I&C equipment, and produce equipment-related documentation.
- Creates or oversees creation of I&E deliverables such as PIDs, wiring diagrams, junction box drawings, and less seldomly requested deliverables such as control narrative or cause and effect diagrams.
- Applies specialized knowledge and shares expertise to colleagues.
- Maintains effective communication within the team and with clients.
- Supports fabrication shop installation, FAT, and general questions, technical interpretations, and advice as required.
- Works with multiple teams to pursue, manage and deliver projects.
- Other duties as required and assigned such as learning tasks that may not strictly be in the I&E discipline including cross-training.
REQUIREMENTS
- BS in Electrical, Mechanical, and/or chemical Engineering preferred.
- Minimum of 3 Years of experience in industry or demonstrated equivalent experience required.
- Experience with Oil & Gas Processing Equipment and related design software preferred.
- Familiar with most known industrial automation communication protocol (i.e., Modbus, EthernetIP, Canopen, etc.), in addition to standard TCP/IP networking skills required.
- Familiar with engineering drawing software (i.e., Autocad or Solidworks) preferred.
- Familiarity with ASME code and/or Compress software preferred.
- Familiarity with Process engineering, ProMax, and equipment sizing preferred.
- Proven analytical skills and ability to organize material required.
- Ability to schedule multiple activities required.
- Demonstrated proficiency in verbal and written communication, with the ability to prepare and deliver concise, understandable reports and presentations to internal and external customers.
- Knowledge and use of computers and software packages including Microsoft Office required.
- Strong interpersonal skills at a high level required.
- Initiative and creative problem-solving skills required.
- Demonstrated ability to work as a team player within a dynamic and continuously changing work environment required.
- Ability to review and implement practices to assure full compliance with client specifications required.
